I actually prefer listening to old prog rock in snowy days, like today in Vermont.

There are some pretty obvious ones like Sonata Arctica, Norther, Wintersun, etc. that give off the "cold" vibe whether it's their intention or not.
I like this one. |

Due to the snow that is happening here in Southwestern Pennsylvania, I've decided that it is late enough in the year to start listening to metal bands/albums/songs with winter themes again.
Let me take you on a journey that I concocted real quick: Part 1: "Dream of a Dead Sun" by ColdWorld. It is day time. The snow is falling heavily, but not blizzard-like. Just heavy enough to obscure the far hillside in a cloud of white. Part 2: "Ich Schriete" by Paysage d'Hiver. The winds are picking up as the snowfall turns into a blizzard. First, it comes as it can be seen in the distance, but then it arrives at full-force as if caught in the middle of the storm. Part 3: "Das Winterreich" by Vinterriket. Night has fallen, and the snow has stopped falling. The clouds are more sparse in the sky allowing the moon and the stars to glisten over white landscape. I like these winter themed bands. I also like how it seems natural to forget about them in the summer and rediscover them later in the year. I'm making a list of releases to review for the coming season. What are your favorite bands that have these kinds of themes?
