^ Yep, sometimes you can't beat the old school stuff. Still active as well.

The new Obituary album has just arrived so I'll be giving that a blast today.

I´m listening to these at the moment:

It´s fairly standard early 90s Scandinavian death metal, but I´m a sucker for that, so I don´t mind:

CONVULSE - Resuscitation of Evilness cover
CONVULSE - World Without God cover

Can't wait, Obituary's one of my favorite and one of the most consistent old school death metal bands right now.

I should check out more Immolation at some point, I've only heard their debut which I thought was pretty good. (Although I don't remember much of it tbh)

The new Sinister album is great, and I've been really enjoying their first two albums, especially the second one. Also recently wrote a review of one of my all time favorites, Arch Enemy's Doomsday Machine:

I really don't understand the lukewarm reception this album gets, I've always loved it.

Just realised that I haven't heard any 2017 death metal releases yet. I do have a promo of the new Ex Deo that looks quite interesting though. I did review their last one fairly highly, though I've never gone back to it in five years.

I think I've been a bit too obsessed with black metal the last few months to really pay much attention to what's coming out in death metal.

Well at least they have a worthy replacement. Hopefully they'll still be as awesome as ever. Agree, Enthean will no doubt get some exposure but suspect they'll be needing a new guitarist.

I´m afraid that´s probably going to happen. Nile is probably a fulltime commitment (although I know that Kolias, Wade, and Sanders have all made solo albums).

Just seen that Nile have parted with Dallas Toler-Wade, which I'm really surprised by.

However I'm quite interested by his replacement as it's Enthean's Brian Kingsland and Enthean are one of my favourite newer tech death bands.

I'm also hoping that his appointment in Nile gives Enthean better exposure and maybe gets their debut album a wider release. I still want a physical copy of it and shipping at the moment costs the same again as the actual album.
