THE MENTORS is an American heavy metal act formed in 1977. The band are notoriously known for their lyrics about Sex, Drugs, Alcohol, and Violence and for always bearing black hoods.
THE MENTORS are widely considered a "true" cult heavy metal act. The band received a lot of attention in the eighties when senate committee Tipper Gore and the PMRC pointed towards the lyrics for the MENTORS song "Golden Shower" as one of the worst examples of "Porn Rock".
The band´s first release was the "Get Up and Die" EP from 1981. The band continued to record albums and tour until 1997 when drummer/ vocalist Eldon "El Duce" Hoke was hit and killed by a train.
The band reformed again in the early 00s and released the live album "Live (Rape Rock Is Disgusting...and Popular!)" in 2004. The band released the "Over the Top" studio album in 2005 and "Ducefixion" followed in 2009.
