The Kinks was a hugely influential British rock and pop band. The band was formed in 1964 and released several singles and albums before breaking up in 1996.
While primarily a rock band who explored traditional blues rock and hard rock, The Kink's released a single in 1964, contained the track "You Really Got Me", written by Ray Davies. "You Really Got Me" is often accredited as one of the most important works of music in the history of heavy metal music, and musicologist Robert Walser has even described it as "the track which invented heavy metal", and rock critic Denise Sullivan has described it as a "blueprint song in the hard rock and heavy metal arsenal".
