If Skid Row had a younger brother, then Sven Gali should be one. This Canadian glam band not only played the same style, David Wanless even able to scream like Bach. Their debut followed the same road taken by Skid Row's, only this time I also heard some grinding heavy moments that's featured in "Slave To The Grind". Take an example of "Under The Influence", "Freakz", or "Sweet Little Gypsy" and you'll know what I'm talking about. "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" is a soothing acoustical piece that I can't believe my own ears how magically pretty it is, one of my all-time favourite ballads. "Whisper In The Rain" is another attempt but only sounded averagely satisfying to me.
Enough with the ballads, when it came to the second half of the album, they're still blowing you away with some hot-smoking tracks, "Stiff Competition" tried to compete with "Youth Gone Wild" with a faster beat, "25 Hours A Day", "Here Today, Gone Tomorrow", and "Disgusteen" also showed the rebellious heavier side of them. Don't mistakenly assumed that they're only a shallow Skid Row clone, even though they sounded similar, Sven Gali still got their own distinctive sleazy sound. Recommended!
