Split Beaver were from Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, England. They formed in 1979, and were the winners of a local battle of the bands that garnered them enough popularity to put out a 7" single and a full-length LP on Heavy Metal records.

They later broke up due to a motorcycle accident that affected the singer.
