S.A. SLAYER picture
S.A. Slayer were a Texas-based (S.A. standing for San Antonio) speed metal band. They originally performed under the name Slayer, but modified their name once the California thrash metal band of the same name gained popularity. The band is most notable for having guitarist Ron Jarzombek (Watchtower, Spastic Ink) and drummer Dave McClain (Sacred Reich, Machine Head) as members.

They sounded freakin' awesome! Check out the vids I posted from their 1983 EP (I believe it predates Slayer's "Show No Mercy" by a few months, as SNM was released in December 1983). Included one of their later songs too - Jarzombek played on their debut album, so you can hear him here - it's stunning (better than Watchtower IMHHO). The Bio (currently) omits to mention that S. A. Slayer were formed by Blitzkrieg guitar duo Robert Catlin and Art Villareal ;o)
