"World Gone Mad" is the 11th full-length studio album by US, California based thrash/crossover/heavy metal act Suicidal Tendencies. The album was released through Suicidal Records in September 2016. It´s the successor to "13" from 2013, and features quite a few lineup changes compared to the predecessor. Rhythm guitarist Nico Santora has been replaced by Jeff Pogan, bassist Tim "RAWBIZ" Williams has been replaced by Ra Díaz, and drummer Eric Moore has been replaced by Dave Lombardo. Especially the addition of Lombardo has brought a lot of attention to the project as a result of the drummer´s former prolific stints with Slayer, Grip Inc., and Testament (among others...).

Stylistically "World Gone Mad" pretty much continues the crossover thrash metal style of it´s predecessor, but while Suicidal Tendencies sounded maybe just a slight bit rusty after their 13 years recording break between "Free Your Soul... and Save My Mind (2000)" and "13 (2013)", they seem to have found a bit more songwriting inspiration and energy before recording "World Gone Mad". "13 (2013)" was a great album, but they´ve just taken it up a notch on this one.

"World Gone Mad" opens with the energetic and pretty catchy "Clap Like Ozzy" and from there we´re treated to all the trademarks of Suicidal Tendencies. Energetic and aggressive hardcore/crossover thrash metal riffs and rhythms, mellow acoustic sections, the occasional funky bassline, skillful melodic lead guitar work, and of course Mike Muir´s distinct sounding vocals in front. They are as unique sounding as ever, but the creative magic of their early releases aren´t there in as large doses anymore. But that´s probably only natural considering how long they been active at this point. I know that may be perceived a a really negative statement and I can´t say it isn´t intended as such, but on the other hand there´s also something comforting about a seasoned act like Suicidal Tendencies delivering a solid quality effort where you pretty much know what you´re gonna get.

"World Gone Mad" is well produced and features a warm, powerful, and detailed production, which suits the material well. The music is as always well performed too, and upon conclusion "World Gone Mad" is another high quality release by Suicidal Tendencies. They definitely aren´t ready to retire just yet. A 3.5 - 4 star (75%) rating is deserved.

Agree with all of this review Jonas. This is how catchy punky metal music should sound.
