There is no shortage of evil alliances in the form of splits featuring extreme metal bands. "When the Hammer Strikes... the Exterminator Arrives" is one such release which features Norwegian black thrashers Deathhammer and Spanish black thrashers Körgull the Exterminator, both of whom contribute two tracks.

The two Körgull the Exterminator tracks fall under the rubric of black thrash, injecting both elements from early black metal and primitive thrash metal into their style. While 'The Flag of Hate Shall Rise Again' is combines speed metal and early thrash metal, drawing on a few primitive and aggressive figures which are repeated efficiently, 'Never Ending Woods' leans more towards pure raw black metal with elements of brutal thrash metal. And everything is blacked up by Lilith Necrobitch's insane vocals.

The production is raw and dirty and reverb-ladden, and in that sense very retro, referring to the sound that a lot of metal acts had in the 80s.

Fans of Hellhammer and early Celtic Frost as well as thrash/punk-oriented black metal acts like Darkthrone and Curse, and possibly also Nadiwrath, should definitely check out this split - but hurry up, it is only available in 500 copies.
