Discharge's particular band of crust punk enjoys its own subgenre designation of D-Beat, but whatever you call it this is a ferocious thirty minutes of vein-burstingly angry punk. Punk acts from this time period singing about the threat of nuclear war in the light of Reagan administration sabre-rattling was nothing new, but few evoked images of destruction with their music quite as powerfully, consistently and competently as Discharge do here. Recent rereleases add plentiful bonus tracks, which I think is a misstep - one of the key features of these seminal hardcore punk albums is their brevity and what they accomplish with it, something which is obscured if you fluff up the running time.
