A decidedly rough debut album in terms of recording quality, Satan's Court In the Act slipped out fairly late in the day as far as the NWOBHM went, with the likes of Iron Maiden already at that point moving into more technically complex and sophisticated sonic realms. It's saved by an engagingly violent performance by the band and a compositional style which takes the best tendencies of the NWOBHM style and turns them up to 11. The lyrical subject matter isn't too far off the sort of thing Witchfinder General were singing about at the same time, but Satan's take is sufficiently different to make this still a worthwhile look.
