Blind Date is a glam metal act from Austin, Texas, who started their career in the late 80s. In 1989, they were voted as one of the best local metal band in San Antonio, but still with that good reputation, they weren't able to nail a good deal with any major label and the band was soon dissolved until Perris Records decided to bring them up again in 2004. Those unreleased tracks were compiled into an eponymous debut and when it was released, glam fans cheered it as one of the best release of 2004.

Blind Date could have enjoyed a big success if this record was released in 1989 and they sure can be girls' cuddling baby just like Poison and Bon Jovi. They play a solid melodic rock/pop metal, very similar to Danger Danger and XYZ debut, with a good guitar fills and vocal style. Buster Grant's voice is like a gentle mix of Ted Poley and Fred Hendrix from Terra Nova. The double-guitars performed by Slimp/Ellis are tight and flashy.

Strong tracks here are "Don't Wait Up" which is their best song, the great power ballad of "She's Walking", a catchy midtempo of "Everybody's Baby" and "Without Your Love", a Whitesnake-ish ballad of "Dreaming", and an XYZ-style fantastic track, "When I'm Alone". This one also featured the Terry Ilous hellish scream style which can be found on their second album. Couple of decent songs and probably only "Broken Promises" that I think is passable filler. Overall, a solid album, a great release, recommended for fans of later-day glam metal with many anthemic chorus, harmonic singing, and killer solos.
