Poropetra is old Finnish and means the Elk of Hiisi (Hiiden hirvi in Finnish) from Finnish mythology. Elk is an old totem animal for Finno-Ugric and Siberian peoples, which is why it describes so well bands music – ethnic rock. The music gets it’s inspiration from the musical traditions of Finno-Ugric peoples, Tuvinian throat-singing and ethnic/world music altogether – combining in this mixture the elements of psychedelic rock, progressive rock, punk, blues and traditional heavy rock music. The more exact and accurate genre-definition shall be left to a listener to decide.
