The Obsessed are a rather acquired taste. Though their three albums were released after "Wino" ended his tenure in Saint Vitus, he had in fact been a member of the band before joining said legendary doom group and making his name with them. Perhaps this is why Lunar Womb sounds like such a throwback; The Obsessed, more than many other doom metal bands, are all about recapturing the sound of classic 1970s metal and hard rock groups and are supremely uninterested in incorporating any later developments in doom metal into their sound. Personally, I think their 1970s heroes already produced more than enough material like this, and did it better too, but for those who just can't get enough of this brand of retro-doom Lunar Womb might be a good pick.
