Nargaroth is a German black metal band created by René "Kanwulf" Wagner in Germany, 1996.

According to Kanwulf, Nargaroth was formed in 1989, but due to contradictory statements of Kanwulf, this date is disputed, as well as the release of the seven track instrumental demo Orke in 1991. It is supposed that this demo was actually released in 1999. The demo Herbstleyd, which Kanwulf claims to be released in 1993, was probably not released before this date. Nargaroth's first album Herbstleyd was released by No Colours Records in 1999, followed in 2000 by Amarok, which is not an album but a re-release of old recordings, as well as the controversial demo Fuck Off Nowadays Black Metal, (released as a demo resulting to disputes over production values). This demo is said to be limited to 333 tapes and 100 LPs, but more units were probably released.

Nargaroth can at times be an interesting band. Herbstleyd was pretty awesome and Black Metal Ist Krieg was decent, but Geliebte des Regens is just repetitive and boring. I do not want my black metal to be this repetitive. We have one 17 minute song full of boring, two 12 minute song also containing boring, and then THE SAME GODDAMN 17 MINUTE SONG AGAIN! What the hell?!

The repetitive black metal thing didn't work well for me with Drudkh's Forgotten Legends, but this is worse. If I wanted music that felt sameish, I'd listen to some drone doom (which I'm an avid fan of). If you're looking into Nargaroth's discography, skip this album.
