About this release
Metallica's first demo containing all original material, recorded in April 1982 in Ron McGovney's garage on four track equipment.
Jump in the Fire and The Mechanix have different lyrics than the versions that would later end up on Kill 'Em All. According to some sources this version of Hit the Lights replaced the original recording on later pressings of the Metal Massacre compilation, but other sources deny that.
The demo was not officially titled by the band, but was generally called Power Metal after some band business cards Ron McGovney made with that phrase included, much to the dissatisfaction of other band members.
