Jess Cox was the original lead singer of The Tygers of Pan Tang for the Wildcat album. After an equally brief stint with Lionheart, he had a brief solo career, then formed a spin-off group called Tyger Tyger in 1987.
Shortly after leaving the Tygers, it is rumoured that he was approached by Metallica to fill the vocalist position - indeed, The Jess Cox band supported Metallica at their early appearance at the Marquee club in 1984.
He rejoined the Tygers onstage at the 1999 Wacken festival to sing 3 old Tygers songs, and returned to the Wacken festival in 2003 to sing for no less than Diamond Head.
