"Soothsayer" is an EP release by US thrash metal act Hellrazor. The EP was released in September 2010 by Heaven and Hell Records.
Hellrazor play a very traditional form of US thrash metal on this 4 track, 18:22 minutes long EP. The band also throw in a couple of melodic elements for good measure. Lead vocalist Alan Rueda is a real asset to the band as he is both able to deliver raw thrashy vocals, higher pitched screams and clean singing too. When he is most raw he reminds me a lot of Chuck Billy of Testament as he sounded around "Low (1994)". Especially the track "The Fool" reminds me of Testament. The instrumental part of the music is tightly played. Lots of hard edged and energetic thrash metal riffing going on in these tracks. The sound production is powerful and professional and helps bring out the best in the tracks.
"Soothsayer" is my first encounter with Hellrazor and it´s been a nice introduction to the band and their music. We´re talking high quality US thrash metal here and a 3.5 - 4 star rating is deserved.
