Of course I'm going with Vapor Trails, but Clockwork Angels and Snakes and Arrows are not far behind though Wink

I think Clockwork Angels is their finest work since the golden age (as I see it) ended with Grace Under Pressure. Can't really say the next best from this bunch, perhaps Roll the Bones or the remixed Vapor Trails.

The last two synth heavy albums seem to not get much love from some people and I don't know why(they are classic Rush). To me their golden age was from 1974 - 1987 (Rush through Hold You Fire)  Wink

It´s my least favorite Rush period, but I´ve voted Clockwork Angels. I enjoyed quite a few tracks off that one.

I love the sound on those two albums, but I don't think the songwriting was quite as consistently excellent as it was all the way from 2112. There are gems in there (Mystic Rhythms might even be my Rush favourite) and overall they are very very good albums. Just not quite as good as what came before.

I think Vapor Trails is one of the main contenders for Rush albums that don't get enough love Wink

Not a bad album amongst them.  I think my vote will go for the dark horse, Test for Echo.  I can see Vapor Trails and Snakes and Arrows appealing to the metal crowd.  These definitely have some of their heaviest tracks on them.

Test for Echo is a pretty good album, I gave it 4 stars. I don't understand why people dislike it Confused

I would have to go for Snakes and Arrows. Not far behind is Counterparts.

I like to all this list. Tongue

But I like more Test for Echo, then comes Roll the Bones and Counterparts. The Vapor Trails remixed (2013) are very good, more clear (the sound).

Yes I really like it too. Do you prefer the original or remix?

My favourite is Snakes and Arrows, their best album since Moving Pictures IMO.

I haven't heard the remixed version actually, but I love the original's raw sound. Vapor Trails has been one of my favorite albums of all time for quite a few years.

If it was one of your favourites you might find the remix too different for your liking and the raw edge has definitely gone. Personally I'm on the fence which I prefer.

Yeah, I honestly didn't get why so many people complained about the production. I thought the raw sound fitted perfectly with the stuff Peart was going through at the time.

what about Signals and Power Windows, I think both are better than S & A. What's wrong with them?

Never saw this, I'll reply 2 years later! Wasn't a fan of 80's Rush in general after Moving Pictures mainly down to the over-use of synths and Alex Lifeson guitar style at the time. I know many rate those 2 albums but they're fairly average in my book. Signals I would say is the best of the 2 though. I actually prefer all the albums in this poll with the exception of Roll The Bones to those 2.
