Even though Neil Peart looks down upon the band's 1970s output it is still simply some of the most awe-inspiring rock music that there is. I'm wondering which of these of their albums from the 1970s do you enjoy the most?

That's interesting considering that these albums were released way later in their career. Bands tend to slow down the more years that they are at it,right? Rush is not one of them though. LOL Which one takes the cake? LOL

A Farewell to Kings would be my 2nd pick from this list, as it has my favorite Rush song, 'Cygnus X-1' Big smile

I´m mostly interested in the band´s 80s output, but if I have to chose from the above options it would be Hemispheres.

How the heck does Caress of Steel get 2 stars while the first two get a higher rating from you? Confused

A slight edge to A Farewell to Kings over Hemispheres.  Kings is a minute longer so a minute longer of great music.  (That logic should have given my vote to Caress since it is the longest of their 70's albums).

2112 for me, mainly on the strength of the title song.

I don't think it's very good.

Bastille Day and Lakeside Park are nice, but their ambition was greater than their skills at that point, so the epics are very disjointed and unmemorable.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it but I just thought it was a little odd because I would think you'd rank it above Fly by Night  as most people do

I like all of the 70, as Rush fan, but the AFTK have a greater appreciation: guitar solos, good harmonious bass.

All those albums have their merits but A Farewell To Kings was the album that got me into Rush and has remained my favourite since.
