Guitar for about nine years, bass more actively for four years and drums actively for a year and a half or something. I've also got a keyboard but I don't really play it.

I've never really practiced anything, just played what I'm able to, so my development hasn't been too fast. If you like you can check out some of my instrumental tracks from the link under that green thing in my signature, I play all four of my instruments there.

I've been playing bass for almost 9 years, though at times it may not show. LOL

I purchased an electronic drum set in December, but left it at my parent's house while I finish my last few months university.  Though I only have about 1.5 days experience on that kit, I've been playing my practice pad for about 4 months. LOL

Ive played guitar for about 20 years. Took leasons for the first two, but Im mostly self-taught. I never had much talent for playing but Ive composed from day one. I used to play in a death/ doom metal act called Last Abide ( http://www.myspace.com/lastabide - http://www.myspace.com/lastabide ), but we disbanded many years ago. Creative differences and that sort of thing. Besides that we simply werent good enough on our instruments at the time to get anywhere. Its quite nostalgic to listen to those samples now and again though. For the last 10 years or so Ive been working with a friend of mine who plays the synth on a progressive rock project. We might release something someday. You know when there are two mondays in a weekBig smile. When my kids grow older and Ill have more time to practice again I might start up a metal project again, but playing most types of metal that I enjoy takes hours of practice every day to learn how to play, so thats a project for the future when I have more time.

Piano and Guitar, mainly, but I try to pick up other things now and then. My first instrument was the accordion and I have had a little experience with Tenor Sax, Marimba and Violin. I'm currently teaching myself the Clarinet.

I'm a vocalist (the human voice is an instrument if one wishes to make it so) Have been singing (specifically to progress vocal ability not 'just because I could') for 11 years. Started at 7 still going strong on my journey at 18. Now embarking on prog and jazz vocals, quite testing actually.

Guitar and vocals.

I play a few instruments. I am not notably fantastic at any of them, but I play them well enough to my pleasure nonetheless. A rundown:

-Harmonica (first instrument)
-Guitar/Bass (more so guitar)
-Drums
-Timpani
-Xylophone
-Alto and Tenor Sax (prefer tenor)
-Clarinet (beginner / average, but hopefully I can buy a decent clarinet soon)
-Piano (beginner, I'm still learning)

Pseudo-instruments:

-Programming music
-Vocal (Scream/Growl/Sing...but I generally dont do much of the first 2)
-Recorder (if that counts LMAO)

Primarily I stick to guitar or the tenor sax. I am trying to learn violin, which I took lessons for in grade school briefly.

Been playing guitar for five years, heading on six in a few months. I guess I can play some basic bass too.

I used to play the piano but I quit in fourth grade after moving on to a rather boring teacher and environment after moving to the States from Korea. I think I had talent and I wish I could have nurtured my potential for playing the piano Unhappy.

Guitar for 23 years I think.
Bass for about 12 years serious enough to perform.
Keys enough to play pads and basic stuff.
Vocals starting from absolutely nothing about 18 years ago...I'm a passable 2nd / backup singer now.

Electric Bass as a close second.

I noodle around on acoustic guitar, but I'm not particularly proficient at it really.
Plan on possibly picking up vocal abilities later too

drums - i do not own a kit but i sometimes jam around with my friends who all are very musically gifted
guitar (i have a crappy japanese off-brand guitar that my uncle owned in the 70s, but i guess it counts), i have been playing quite passively for about 1 year, and still suck.

also i make kinda experimental ambient/drone music using various sound sources and then processing them. haven't yet got a myspace or something, maybe sometime in the future...

I play the guitar - 18 years now - I also know my way around a drum kit (but I'm by no means a drummer) and I can play the bass too. I'm in a blackened death thrash metal band, a melodeath project, a couple of prog metal and prog rock projects.

We're recording some tracks in the blackened death thrash band, Grimmthurs, these days (they also have a couple of tracks out on some compilation discs from before I joined them). The other projects are still at, hmmm, project state, although I've written some material for the melodeath-thing (I just have to find some musicians... and some time; I've found a vocalist though). I did play the guitar in a thrash band called Erector back in the day. We recorded a demo (which I haven't heard in, like, 10 years and I just can't find a copy of it anywhere), and we had one track on the "f**k You, We're From Denmark, vol 4" compilation (yup, the one that sucked, but at least our track was not bad for a bunch of teens).

Keyboard for about three-four years. I didn't take any classes, I'm a self-taught player.
Currently my band broke up, but it's not sad actually - the guitarist was really mad! Now I'm working on some new songs and I plan to start a new band in a few months. I compose instrumental metal tracks with some progressive influences. Wish me luck! Rawks

I took drum lessons too when I started playing music and while Im definitely no rythm shark, those lessons gave me a good basic understanding of the technique behind playing drums. I think all musicians could benefit from a few drum lessons.

I play bass and have done so for 17 years. I've played guitar for 15 years, but only for the purpose of writing music! Inspired by John Paul Jones, I took up the mandolin about 7 years ago but I'm past the stage of my life where I have time to spend practicing for hours a day...
Neither of these things is half as much fun as playing the bass though, that's my first love!

I started drumming at Christmas 2002. I started drumming seriously for gigging bands in Summer 2003 for four solid years.
I stopped drumming seriously September 2007 after moving country for University. I started seriously drumming again in October 2010 and continue to the present day.

Very much so. Cool I also sing (badly) in a choir.

I have an acoustic guitar gathering dust in the corner at home on which I can almost play Yankee Doodle, and I learned some of Yellow Submarine on recorder when I was a kid, but that's it for me.

From secondary school to early university, I played guitar and sang back up vocals in a pop punk band, something I miss more and more as I progress through my thirties. If anyone wants a laugh, check out the song "Joker" on the following link:

https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandID=414600&content=overview

Horrendously bad vocals but considering the fact we were all 15 when it was recorded, I look back on the music with nostalgic pride.

Also used to play piano and trombone which again, I miss greatly. Haven't played anything properly for over a decade...

Very much so. Cool I also sing (badly) in a choir.

I have an acoustic guitar gathering dust in the corner at home on which I can almost play Yankee Doodle, and I learned some of Yellow Submarine on recorder when I was a kid, but that's it for me.

when i first learned a musical instrument, i learned to play the drums.. and until now i never managed to play it! i learned to play the guitar because i overheard a conversation my ex-girlfriend at the time told his friend that a guy who can play guitar is cooler! LOL

From secondary school to early university, I played guitar and sang back up vocals in a pop punk band, something I miss more and more as I progress through my thirties. If anyone wants a laugh, check out the song "Joker" on the following link:

Horrendously bad vocals but considering the fact we were all 15 when it was recorded, I look back on the music with nostalgic pride.

Also used to play piano and trombone which again, I miss greatly. Haven't played anything properly for over a decade...

right, nostalgia for the past is something really fun to talk about!
joker song is cool, but if i had to choose i would prefer 'Dream On'
