Hey all,

I'd like to submit these two bands for addition to MMA.

http://www.myspace.com/scalethesummit - http://www.myspace.com/scalethesummit

http://www.myspace.com/animalsasleaders - http://www.myspace.com/animalsasleaders

Both are instrumental metal bands showcasing amazing musicianship.  Animals as Leaders could be described as Cynic meets deathcore, while Scale the Summit is a bit more riff oriented la In Flames, with a jazzy touch.

Please listen and tell me what you think !

I'd probably class both bands Avant-Garde metal.

Avant Garde???

I'd put them in the Tech-Thrash/Math Metal catagory, complex compositions, odd-meter and so on,
like Canvas Solaris, Exivious, Cynic, Watchtower, Continuo Renacer, Bulb, Behold...The Arctopus,
Meshuggah, Spiral Architect, Twisted Into Form, A((wake)), To-mera, Aghora, Prototype . . .
I can go on Tongue

Avant Garde/Post-Prog Metal to me would be: Sculptured, Mars Volta, Mr. Bungle, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Unexpect, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Fair to Midland, Giant Squid, Primus, The Ocean and so on...

I guess more will chime in and add their 2cents.

Both bands are tech / proggish. I know Animals as Leaders better, and it's like Exivious only better. Scale the Summit definitely plays in the same realm, though not quite as evocative as the other two bands. But both deserve to be here.

We're gonna do a little number featuring Randy Rhoads...

I wouldn't call them Avant-Garde, although they may have aspects that are avant in nature, I'd definately class them in tech/prog/math metal.

They fit best in progressive metal. That's where we appear to have our tech bands such as Spastic Ink and Behold... The Arctopus. No avant-garde elements in them really.

Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

Yes,
Since their are no sub-genre's of it, Thumbs Up "Prog Metal" gets my vote as well.

Bump...highly recommend for prog metal which is where we have Exivious, which is similar to both bands.

I saw Scale the Summit last year at ProgNation, and agree with Jay on adding them to PM. Unfortunately, I am a bit short of time these days, but, if you need a hand, I'll be glad to add them.

Would anyone object if I add them to prog metal??? I'll wait awhile to give folks a chance to comment.
