Yes, people. The time has come: who are the highest name of Heavy Metal? In my opinion is Dio. Many consider Ozzy (mostly people from USA, I think), but Dio is the master. |

I can tell you right now that ever since Ozzy released his string of pop metal albums, he is not a god of heavy metal. Ever since he left Black Sabbath, none of his material was interesting to me. -------------

Heavy metal for me means metal. None of the people on that list I see as a metal god in any capacity, although if he wants a classic kind of metal figure (the mention of Manowar in the joke option sort of suggests he doesn't) it would have to be Tony Iommi, which is still a vote for Other. |

Vocalist? Or just the general god of metal? Actually both may have to go for Ozzy. Since I'm apparently the only one here who's favorite genre is black metal, I vote Quorthon. But I look at Quorthon's page and see that the first three albums have dismal scores from more than five ratings. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?! -------------

Quorthon and his band Bathory are the single most influential thing to black metal. Dissing the first three (or even the three after that) would be considered a serious blasphemy on Encyclopaedia Metallum.

Well, I'm up for some sort a personal polemic if anyone else is  Checked Bathory's page yesterday, I've always considered myself the unsentimental type, but seeing Under the Sign of the Black Mark at 2.88 (my own modest rating - which I should markup - bumping it to 2.90) almost brought a tear to my eye (tongue in cheek).
