How are you planning on handling albums in Classical Archives (which I am very excited about) since composers don't have albums per se? It seems like listing every recording of Beethoven's 9th (e.g.) would be an insurmountable task.

Mmmm.... Point. We have to review albums, that's all. (I have a blog about the subject.. just reviews of recordings, of versions of classical works). But we can include composers as the database. And albums of music composed by them by many different artists, orchestras and conductors.

Max, Classical Archives would be an insurmountable task. You can try to add every Beethoven recording if you want to, but I'm not going to help...I would love to participate in jazz because there aren't many places to discuss avant-garde jazz around the internet, but classical is everywhere.

No, but I did write an epic philosophical/religious text that I am in the process of converting into blank verse.

Regarding tragedy, have you read any Victor Hugo? He is my favorite author and his tragedies are exquisitely heartbreaking.

I have around 400 discs of classical music, but that's not even 1 % of what is out there. That's why such a website should feature the composers and peopleshould be free to add and review albums of recordings of different works. It's the only way I thnk it could work.

You're just addicted to the internet.  That's why you're part of a metal forum: love of metal and the internet.
Instead of having people review every rendering of every composer, couldn't people just review the works themselves?  Like, a review of Mozart's Requiem Mass (in general).

I have always wished there were a site equivalent to Allmusic (or PA, for that matter) that dealt with novels. Granted there are a lot more novels out there than Prog CDs, but I think it would be a fantastic resource if we could make it happen.

Also, I agree that reviewing works rather than recordings would work better for classical archives.

Also, Coffee.

Should we start a new thread about these archive suggestions rather than continuing to prop up this question-answering silliness?

I have 400 classical music CD's. I have 4 Jazz Cd's. That should answer the question.

Before I post my question, I have to say something about this:

Originally posted by NJCat_11 NJCat_11 wrote:

I can only give what would me MY reaction (I'm not speaking for the whole team). I would never even touch any depiction of a religious figure unless is extremely offensive, one that could offend harshly even the most moderate of followers. It would have to be quite quite extreme, and I actually have never seen onew like that even on PA's threads. I don't like intolerance, and I would never be a part of it.

On the other hand, this site is privately owned. If M@x decided that it could be detrimental for the site to allow a cartoon of muhammad (for whatever reason, is his site after all) we would act accordingly. But I'm sure in that case we would have to agree to ban ALL kind of religious figures' representations, as it would be the right thing to do IMO.

Do you have a mac or a pc? why your election?

PC. No reason really for it being so. It was bought for me so I could do college work on.

Crikey! I don't know. I wan't that much into grunge, but I liked Nirvana's "Nevermind", and I listened to Boghandle, too.

What's your problem?

My problem is that I haven't done enough reviews!
So, what's the best metal album title you've seen so far?

Eat 'em and Smile - David Lee Roth
It's one of my favorite cover pieces in general.

Longest song title you've ever seen?

Maudlin Of The Well's "Excerpt from 6,000,000,000,000 Miles Before the First, or, the Revisitation of the Blue Ghost" I guess.

Do you think we humans can possibly affect the climate?

The day you come up with a super-catchy teen pop song. You will playback it in huge stadiums filled with endless amounts of kids.

How has your day been?

Quite good, actually.
Are you a pessimist, an optimist or a realist?

Only if my mother allows it, I'm only 22

Do you think I should start staying up late watching tv?

Meh, I don't know if there's anything on TV in Mexico, but here it's usually lots of nonsense.

If you had to choose, would you rather be blind or deaf?

As a musician and music enthusiast, to be deaf is my worst nightmare.

For the guitarists out there, would you rather lose your picking hand or fretting hand?

If considering the playing I'd rather lose the picking hand and develop some cool hammer and pull techniques, but as I'm right handed I'd rather keep it for other things in life.

What's your favourite comedy movie? (watching a Fish Called Wanda for the first time in years at the moment)

Monty Python's The Life Of Brian    "He's not the messiah! He's a very naughty boy!!!" LOL

Anyway, to bring up an earlier part of the thread, is my spelling of that Icelandic volcano correct?

Sort of, but not as much now, since philosophy and physics caught my attention.
What on earth was the name of that Ben and Jerry's ice cream that had those little chocolate cows in it?
