Given the above options, it's a close choice between BTBAM and Mastodon.  It seems like a weird categorization with the lumping of Pantera, Biohazard and Machine Head with some groups that formed 10+ years after them and are from a huge variety of different sub-genres.  At least the NWOBHM bands are mainly "traditional" heavy metal.

Ill just take this as a popularity contest and vote for High on Fire. Ive been enjoying their music greatly in the last year or so.

Between the Buried and Me, though Avenged Sevenfold, Mastodon, and Disturbed are close.

I don't know half the bands on the list but have at least one album from each of the other half of artists. Has to be Mastodon as I have four of thier albums. TBH, this is first time I've heard of NWoAHM.

Heh; "Although the term is used by the media with increasing frequency, the definition has not been finished completely"

Having looked at the Wikipedia article, it seems the author doesn't have a clear idea of what he's trying to do, except to generate some publicity and self-promotion.

Humbug aside, I vote for Killswitch Engage.

I completely fail to see the link between them and Pantera...  Confused

System of a Down

Since they are my all time favorite band that wasn't too difficult LOL

This is pretty much a popularity contest as, IMO, NWoAHM doesn't really exist as a style....I think it is some thrashy/core mix, would be the best way to describe it....if we had to LOL

Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Testament. The real Big Four of thrash metal!

^It's worth noting that NWoBHM isn't a style either, it's a huge spread of styles.

However I'm not at all convinced by the notion of NWoAHM as a "Movement".

SOAD are great though, as are BTBaM... I feel like changing my mind on this one.

I'm in a Slipknot mood today Headbanger

No it is not, but since that IS listed here I try to not bitch about it LOL

Agreed though, I see NWoAHM as even less of a movement. Really, it's pretty silly IMO.

More than half of these bands are either metalcore or alternative metal.  I thought it was New Wave of American HEAVY Metal!  None of these sound like the British NWOBHM counterparts!

Aye, out of those I would label maybe Lamb of God, Machine Head and Pantera HWoAHM, because I thought that referred to the groove-thrash kind of thing

it is the beards (wait all this bands have beards, and look like cavemen (no dissing it just seems that is the norm), they are the Russel Crowes, Viggo Mortensen and Gerard Butlers of music, they give  us bearded half muscled men some courage,

I don't know anything about this 'movement' but I'll vote predictably and go BTBAM.

Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.
