Try the latest album by Hail Spirit Noir called Eden in Reverse. I believe that would qualify as going some way to make a space metal genre a reality.  I didn´t even listen to the song or read the comment that well. I just saw space sounding theme and though of metal acts with that theme. If what they're looking for is poppy metalcore, only band I really listen to that I can recommend is A Day to Remember, particularly Homesick and Common Courtesy.
