Sometimes there's an awesome album that you feel more people should know about, yet for some reason you're the only one who has rated it on MMA. I decided to make this thread so they could get some exposure. Just post the cover and a brief description of what sort of music it is, one album per post and try to let a few other people post in between your posts. Also, don't do the obvious and pick a new release. Something that's a few years old at least.

So to start with it is of course the album that inspired the creation of this topic:

Saturndust is a Brazilian band that plays doom/sludge metal infused with space rock.

Gloomy, bleak and relentless.  A fairly recent release (2014) from one of the originators of industrial metal

One of my all time favorite albums. A nu metal album with a blend of funk metal, rap metal, hip hop rhythms, abstract lyrics, deadpan rapping, and some 70's metal style solos.

I can higly recommend this Australian prog Black metal release. It´s reather unconventional and very intriguing:
MISERYS OMEN - Hope Dies cover
http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/miserys-omen/hope-dies" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/miserys-omen/hope-dies

My review is below:

Hope Dies is the debut full-length studio album by Australian black metal act Misery´s Omen. The album was released in February 2008 by Worship Him Records.

The basis in the music on this album is black metal, but calling this a regular black metal album would be anything but fair. There are both doomy sections, progressive/ experimental sections, mellow folk sections, beautiful acoustic sections and even a track that sounds like Sigh has been invived into the studio. I´m of course thinking of the handclap section in Fiendish Ghoul. I can´t help thinking about Sigh every time I hear that track. The heavy doomy parts of the album remind me of Dance of December Souls (1993) by Katatonia. The opening title track is probably the best example of that part of Misery´s Omen´s sound but also a track like A Cobbled Path. The album is generally very melodic and some parts make me think of Dissection. But then a track like the chaotic and at times even technical And the Stars Bled really confuse me. This is truly an eclectic metal album. This might be a problem for some people but even though the album is very eclectic in nature it´s thankfully also very consistent, which means that even though the songs vary in style you´re never in doubt that it´s the same band that wrote the songs. I find the adventurous approach to songwriting a real treat.

The band is a three-piece but guitarist/ vocalist Arganoth Doom often plays harmonies. The musicianship is excellent on the album and I´d like to give a special mention to bassist D.E.M.O.N.. His playing on Hope Dies is varied, melodic and quite adventurous. It´s seldom you´ll hear bass being such a vital part of a black metal band´s sound.

The production is powerful and raw ( not lo-fi) but especially the bass gives the sound a lot of warmth and earthy atmosphere. All in all the album is very well produced.

Hope Dies has been a very positive surprise for me and I can highly recommend the album to fans of progressive and adventurous black metal with a doomy edge. A 4 star rating is fully deserved.

I haven't listened to this in so long to say anything really specific about it now, but I have an old review which may be used for reference. They are an Icelandic atmospheric black metal act. I was still writing for my old site Heavy Metal Haven back when I reviewed this and just to show how small the world is one of my moderators used to be in a band with the two guys in Dynfari. I remain the only rating for this on MMA. I should revisit it myself.

As Bosh was kind enough to also add this for me, try this.  Don't let the album cover fool you.  It's a double album and the first disc does NOT sound how it looks.

One of my absolute favorite death metal albums. Perfectly blends both the slow doom and thrashy groove sides of death metal. Immolation of the Agnostic in particular transitions perfectly from its death-doom intro to a great hook, definitely in my top 10 death metal songs.

A recent discovery, kind of a reverse Floor as a sludge/grunge band with only bass and drums as opposed to just guitar and drums. Both forcefully heavy and dark yet beautifully melodic, their new album from 2020 is what I first heard and is really good too.

Ok, so this is not completely by the book, as there are actually two persons who have rated this album, but I´m the only one who has written a review. I haven´t read my own review since I wrote it in 2013, and I found that it was one of my reviews that I enjoyed reading again and it put it a smile on my face reading how I struggled to try and describe the weird sounds of the release. Now that was a challenge LOL. Mike is the master of writing about avant garde music...me..eh not so much.
!T.O.O.H.! - Democratic Solution cover
http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/tooh/democratic-solution

...and my review:

"Democratic Solution" is the 4th full-length studio album by Czech Republic extreme metal act !T.O.O.H.!. The album was released by the band as a free digital download in August 2013. Apparently it´s meant to be the last album by !T.O.O.H.!. I´ll take that with a grain of salt though as they´ve already disbanded one time before in 2005 after they were dropped by Earache Records, and since we now have "Democratic Solution" to listen to, they clearly have trouble dissolving the band completely.

!T.O.O.H.! consists of the two-piece Schizoid (Drums, Vocals) and Humanoid (Bass, Guitars, Vocals, Programming) and were on their previous releases known for their odd take on technical/progressive death metal. This time around they´ve taken their music in an even more odd direction as "Democratic Solution" sounds like a computer game version of an extreme metal release. Blabbering Czech language vocals, which sometimes sound like the singer is drunk or having a raving party, what sounds like technical programmed drums and odd buzzing guitars are more or less what make up the sound on "Democratic Solution". It´s like a kid´s birthsday party gone wrong. It´s certainly both complex and avant garde in execution, but not necessarily uninviting or difficult. Just weird...

The vocals are mostly clean and the melody lines (however odd and sometimes almost childish in nature) are generally pretty catchy. Even though the use of extreme vocal styles is very limited on "Democratic Solution", it´s still a very extreme release. Just on other parameters than the extremity of the vocal delivery.

This is pretty surely not music for everyone, and even extreme metal listeners who are used to avant garde elements, might find themselves a bit challenged here. Personally I find "Democratic Solution" oddly charming but at times also slightly annoying, so it´s definitely an album I have to be in the right mood to appreciate. There is no questioning the originality of the product, the excellent musicianship or the quality of the relatively well sounding production though and based on that, but also taking into consideration by ambivalent feelings toward the album, a 3 - 3.5 star (65%) rating is warranted.
