Whether they come from your favourites bands or albums or just something you really like from someone else, what are your top metal songs of all time? Or can be songs by metal bands that are a bit softer if you like. For me, it's tough, so I decided to look at my most played on Last.fm. Blind Guardian - Journey Through the Dark is my most played track with 79 recorded listens. A Past and Future Secret by the same band is only just behind with 75. This isn't even a metal song, but for a long while this was my most played track of all time. Blind Guardian is a rare band that can really pull off this sort of thing within a metal album. Other tracks I've played a lot are: Wolfchant - Eremit Factory of Dreams - Whispering Eyes Blind Guardian - A Voice in the Dark Huntress - Eight of Swords Anubis Gate - Find a Way (Or Make One) Blind Guardian - I'm Alive Blind Guardian - Tommyknockers Wuthering Heights - The Road Goes Ever On Anubis Gate - Dodecahedron Blind Guardian - The Script for My Requiem Blind Guardian - Traveller in Time Sonic Pulsar - Dreamscales (my favourite instrumental track) Huntress - Spell Eater Anubis Gate - Options- Going Nowhere Blind Guardian - Ride Into Obsession Rebellion - Arise Wolfchant - Black Fire Iron Maiden - El Dorado There are two themes here: songs from my favourite bands and songs that were singles for albums I got really hyped for. For example I can't honestly say that I think El Dorado is the best Iron Maiden song. I'll have to think about a more definitive list. But that number one, that will certainly be in there. Well that's a hell of an ask. My favourite ever metal song usually changes with each record I put on  I'll need to give it some thought.From this morning - the old classic Sign Of The Southern Cross by Sabbath. Although its been a lot of heavy-as-shit punk I've had on spin recently so they're current faves. Tomorrow it'll be something different and something more metal.

Immortal has long been one of my favourite bands. They have some pretty great songs, but the best standouts have to be when they were making thrashier black metal and this has to be one of my favourites. |

There's so many songs that I rarely think about what my absolute favorite songs are. However, I could probably list my favorite song from each of my favorite metal bands, so I guess those would be my favorite metal songs? Clutch - The Dragonfly (Not a metal band, but I consider their early stuff metal) Helstar - Witch's Eye Soundgarden - Loud Love Pantera - The Art of Shredding Judas Priest - Desert Plains Anthrax - Out of Sight, Out of Mind Rush - The Necromancer (Same thing with Clutch) Korn - Beg for Me Overkill - Birth of Tension Megadeth - The Skull Beneath the Skin Obituary - Don't Care ------------- If I say fuck two more times that's forty-six fucks in this fucked up rhyme |
