Panzerballett is a German jazz-fusion band that doesn't just cover Weather Report's Birdland. They take Birdland, add two heavily distorted often 7-string guitars and add Meshuggah-esque riffs to a saxophone fronted melody. That first song sounds freaking cool!! Based off that alone, i'd say progressive is a better fit than thrash. Avant??
