There is no definition for drone metal. If you would like me to, I can create a definition, but I don't know I would submit it then. Let me know.

"Drone Metal blends the slower tempos and heaviness of doom metal with longer song durations. Vocals are usually growled and screamed, and an emphasis is placed on the electric guitar. Many songs lack traditional rhythm, but create a large wall of sound, drawing comparisons to post-metal.

Instrumentation featured by bands as diverse as Black Sabbath, Sleep, Swans, and Sonic Youth has had a very positive influence on the genre. Additionally, minimalist composers inspired pioneers of the genre such as Earth, Burning Witch, and Boris. Other popular bands in this genre are Sunn O))) and Teeth Of Lions Rule The Divine.

Tell me if you like it. If you want I can make definitions for the other missing genres.

Thanks Michael. It looks good to me but lets see if anyone else has any comments before we post.

And thanks for pulling this together.

Here's a wild question. How can bands like Sunn O))) or Earth be called metal at all while bands like Van Halen are merely hard rock? Sounds utterly illogical

Ain't that the truth. To be honest i don't consider drone metal to be a form of metal. I consider it to be a metal related category that is based in dark ambient that just happens to utilize some distortion and vocal techniques. Yadda yadda

It does indeed. Apologies for the delay. It's been loaded to the sub-genre and should be there shortly.

Thanks for your work on this.
