Mostly old school stuff but can also include hardcore punk as well! I already know of the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Misfits, Ramones, Blondie, Dropkick Murphys, Dead Kennedys....annnd, I think that's it!

If you don't know them already, I'd go with Black Flag first. Their first three albums are all masterpieces, My War perhaps being their very best.

A few other suggestions:
The Exploited
The Offspring (The first four albums, their debut especially)
Broken Bones (One of my favorite old school hardcore punk bands)
Flogging Molly (If you like Dropkick Murphy's, these guys are essential listening)
Samhain (Danzig's other punk band, November Coming Fire is particularly amazing)
The Suicide Machines (A Match and Some Gasoline, War Profiteering is Killing Us All)
Killing Joke (The debut is a great slice of proto-industrial punk, though I prefer their industrial metal stuff)
Siouxsie and the Banshees (More goth than punk, but The Scream and Join Hands are pretty heavy on the punk)

Hope you enjoy some of these!

Black Flag wasn´t mentioned above...

Discharge neither...

...pretty much mandatory listening, when it comes to hardcore punk.

Loads of great punk bands out there, modern and classic and many of them already mentioned. Depends too on how you define punk. The latest Despised Icon album is an example of a great punk album.
Surprised no-one has suggested Exploited? And what about the mighty Stiff Little Fingers from Nor'n Ireland? More poppy you had bands like the Rezillos (great cover of Glad all over), Buzzcocks (with their sweet ode to obsessive masturbation - Orgasm Addict), UK Subs, Members, Cuts, Angelic Upstarts, Slits, etceteraaa.

And that's why I didn't stick in an Exploited vid. I would recommend  Troops of Tomorrow or Fuck the USA (often just called USA) as good starters.

Troops and USA are top albums, agreed.

I think their best album is Beat the Bastards, that is one of the best crossover albums out there.

I can't listen to that one any more. Thrashed it too much. Still like The Massacre a lot.
