I know next to nothing about folk metal, so I'm looking for some recommendations from those who do know the genre well. The bands I already know are Skiltron and Triddana, who I both love. As far as folk music goes, I love Celtic (Scottish, Irish included), Medieval, and Scandinavian folk music. ------------- If I say fuck two more times that's forty-six fucks in this fucked up rhyme |

I´m no Expert in the genre, but I used to enjoy some of the early albums by Skyclad.

Cruachan, Celtic folk metal from Ireland. Some albums are black metal based, some aren't. Black metal based Cruachan: Cruachan without the black metal: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/cruachan Аркона (Arkona), Russian folk metal. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/arkona(russia) Fejd's latest album Trolldom (they weren't metal before this one) is a Nordic folk metal release: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/fejd For some stuff not to be taken so seriously, Alestorm: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/alestorm Power folk metal from Italy - Elvenking. Their folk elements were lessened on a couple of their releases, but they've brought them back more recently. Wilderun, as US band who have made two great albums so far. First if a bit more overly folk than the second. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/wilderun Wolfchant, whose sound has since changed towards power metal, had a melodic black/folk metal thing going at one point: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/wolfchant I guess I should also mention Eluveitie. A lot of people like them, though I always feel that their music could be so much more than it is. They do have a number of really good tracks though. But to be honest my favourite album from them is their non-metal one. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/eluveitie Falconer's work usually falls under power metal with folk influences, however they do some some albums that are more folk heavy, notably the Swedish language Armod. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/falconer

Hope you find something you like. Just took a listen to all the bands you posted videos of Adam, thanks and I loved a good chunk of them. I'm not well versed in folk metal myself. I enjoy Agalloch but I don't find them to be typical folk metal at all. I did enjoy Fejd's new album and Falconer's Armod is good, but I mostly listened to it as a power metal album like their others. |

I recommend listening to Mägo de Oz. P.S.: I remember listening a while ago to "The Pagan Manifesto" by Elvenking. I found it quite good. ------------- Only the dead have seen the end of war. Without music, life would be a mistake. |
