Have there been any albums that you've bought/listened to only because of some great cover artwork? Cover art is sadly a really underrated art form, because a lot of the art I've seen on metal albums and also some classic rock albums are interesting and/or really nice to look at. I believe good and/or fitting album art can really enhance the listening experience, so share away any album covers that made you look further. Smile

Here's the most recent example of me listening to an album only because of the cover art:

A pretty good album, but the cover is just of epic proportions. Although I must admit, this cover would fit better on a Doom or Sludge metal album then a Metalcore album.

Striking cover art does indeed make me pay attention to a band when I might otherwise have looked over them. I usually do a bit of research into them afterwards though, before listening/buying.

Saw the cover and decided it would be a piss take. It's not. It's actually very competent stoner doom, although with a touch of humour. Sometimes it pays to think like a grubby minded schoolboy!

Here's a few artworks that made me check out the band's behind them.

Anything that looks spacey/sci-fi is liable to get my attention.

Sometimes other stuff catches my eye though.

Never bought an album just because the cover art looked interesting/beautiful.
I bought some albums just knowing the genre the band was playing though.

^I haven't bought anything without listening to it first either unless it's dirt cheap at a thrift store, but I have listened to albums based only on cover art and knowing that they play a genre of music I like.

...and that Goblin Cock album, I'm trying to figure out what's worse. That or Shitfucker. LOL

Here's another album I listened to only knowing the cover and that they played stoner doom:

Love the Bosch-feel to the cover, glad I got that art of metal covers book.

don't call Cathedral stoner doom, they were around way before anyone called "stoner" anything. What's next, you're gonna call Black Sabbath stoner too?

Way before the internet offered information on a plate, one would get his info on bands from magazines or radio shows so I would  buy an album because I read some place what kind of music they played. An example would be Fates Warning's A Pleasant Shade of Gray; I just read somewhere they were progressive (that was back when the album was out). I was happy, the album blew me away LOL

I should have worded it differently, this album has a stoner doom sound. By the time this album was out, there was Sleep, Clutch, Monster Magnet, and to some extent Corrosion of Conformity.
