well, here it is the 1987-1988 albums poll

definitely mention other albums, I know some are missing (2nd poll maybe, I dunno plus I might include 1989 in the next, I don't think I know that many from 1989, but anyway)

There are so many of my favorites on this list, that it´s almost impossible to chose, but "Abigail" has always been very special to me (King Diamond´s best album IMO), so it gets my vote.

It's very close between Helloween and Iron Maiden on this one for me, but I ultimately had to go for Maiden.

Tough vote for me. I went with Iron Maiden, but Helloween and Metallica are pretty close behind.

Some of my favourites here too but as objectively as you can be with music, I went for Maiden.

As already stated this is nigh on impossible.

Solely based on the fact that it is my favourite album by them.

Metallica - ...aJfA

Another nearly impossible one. LOL

I'll have to think about it, but these are the albums I'm thinking of picking: Anthrax, Voivod, Testament, Queensryche, Metallica, and Slayer.

My vote's most likely going to go to Anthrax or Voivod.

Every year deserves its own poll to be honest, especially at this point, where we are at the point where metal is peaking (in my opinion).

That being said, my favorite album from the era is definitely "Them" by King Diamond.

But there are many monumental, life-defining albums in these two years as well. I don't know where to begin. Metallica and Abigail are right there and so are Transcedence, No Place for Disgrace and the Keepers.

Savatage, Forbidden Evil (one of the best thrash metal albums ever), Testament - The Legacy (fave album by them), Anthrax - AtL (same), Overkill - Taking Over (same), Holy Terror - Terror and Submission and especially Mind Wars (again, one of the best thrash metal albums ever), Agent Steel - unstoppable force, Rigor Mortis - Rigor Mortis, the two Death albums, Morbid Saint, Helstar (this is where they get positively AWESOME and they peak in 1989), Leatherwolf - Leatherwolf ('87), Riot - Thundersteel, Sanctuary - Refuge Denied, Sacred Reich - Ignorance, Nuclear Assault - Survive, DRI - Crossover, Schizophrenia by Sepultura, None Shall Defy by Infernal Majesty, Paradox- Product of Imagination, Voivod - KT (fave album by them) and Dimension Hatross, Candlemass(! best Messiah album!), shit, so many, Zed Yago's debut.. OH! And I friggin worship Jason Becker, esp. Perpetual Burn (this could go at the top 10) but also the Cacophony album and Friedman's debut, Vinnie Moore, Malmsteen of course... nah, can't go on, there are SO MANY, we are talking really about metal's best years here.

^ Oh yes, Forbidden Evil is brilliant.

another great year - in fact i have all but 2 of those albums in my collection but Hall Of The Mountain King by Savatage is my favourite - what a guitar sound! I also love the albums from King Diamond, Helloween, Testament, Anthrax, Candlemass, Voivod, Coroner, Queensrhyche, Iron Maiden, Slayer and Yngwie Malmsteen's finest momnet, Odyssey.

Not on the list there was also great albums from Celtic Frost, Paradox, Aerosmith, Death Angel, Exodus, Armoured Saint, Overkill, TNT, Heathen and Bathory.

Forbidden, Sanctuary and Overkill are missing, guilty as charged but like I said, I may do a second poll, I actually have thought of these three.

I do not know some of the albums/bands you mentioned - Leatherwolf, Holy Terror, Rigor Mortis and Morbid Saint, I've never listened to a full length album from them.

Sepultura - I only like Beneath the Remains and Arise
Sacred Reich - I only like The American Way.

I forgot about Death Angel and Death (I'm not particularly fond of their debut, but staring their second album, I do listen to them every once in a while).

I haven't listened to Jason baker/Cacophony in years  Embarrassed but then again I'm not into instrumental shred albums anymore.

Decided to give my vote to Anthrax Among the Living, even though it was really difficult with so many masterpieces. Shocked

Leatherwolf is THE SHIT mate! Fantastic, technical (esp. for 1987) US power metal with some touches of hard rock thrown in for good measure. The first METAL band with 3 guitarists, way before Maiden, the singer Michael Olivieri is easily among my favorite singers. The 1987 album is their best work but you can't go wrong with 1989's Street Ready and the 1984 s/t.

Holy Terror, one of the most underrated bands in metal. Some of my favorite songs ever here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDElYY0xYhE (heavy metal masterpiece)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqt0uTlzpHw (speed, heaviness, melody, incredible vocal performance, that chorus is out of this world)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKWbItZYGHQ (this is a reworked version of Agent Steel's Back to the Reign, as Kurt Colfelt (or Kilfelt) was originally in Agent Steel and then took the song and reworked it with HT. This is a better version.

Morbid Saint:
Deathrash, produced by Eric Greif (Death's manager), very intense, very inspired.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz9QjTvkBP4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGx_lkJsCZI

If you like Dark Angel, Death, Possessed, Sadus and the like you will like this. Guaranteed.

Rigor Mortis:
Mike Scaccia's (RIP, also in Ministry) guitar work was unique and so was Rigor Mortis. Their debut is a classic. One of a kind. Listen to this FANTASTIC song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB4aiREBq4I

About Sacred Reich: Surf Nicaragua, Death Squad and Sacred Reich the songs are some of their absolute best.
