this was harder than I thought, I feel I did not do total justice as there are more albums I can think of, maybe a second poll later, if this one gets some votes and comments.

so you know what to do, mention other albums as well
"other" for the dissatisfied Big smile

bands that did not make it and deserve it:
Black Hole
Accept
Helstar
Van Halen
Europe
Watchtower
Possessed
Metal Church

and many more

I didn't even need to think about this one: Powerslave. One of my top 10 or so albums of all time, so it was a no-brainer.

say it was an easy choice, don't say "no brainer", it's like calling me dumb or something.

I'm curious if the less famous albums will get any votes.
Initially I added some less known albums but gave up, maybe I'll have them in the next one.

Well, I certainly didn't mean it that way. Sorry if it bothered you.

Voted Powerslave too.

Metallica, Judas Priest and Helloween all deserve some recognition too though.

I'd also like to mention the following albums that weren't included. I wouldn't have voted for them over Powerslave, but I think they all deserve a mention. All bands eventually become power metal bands though these are all heavy and/or speed metal releases.

Grave Digger - Heavy Metal Breakdown
Nightmare - Waiting for the Twilight
Running Wild - Gates to Purgatory

All three bands released their second albums in 1985 but with each I tend to prefer the debut.

Some very important albums there but Powerslave for me was the perfect Iron Maiden album and easily my favourite of theirs. if they hadn't been in I'd have struggled as there's quite a few I'd place on equal footing from Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Mercyful Fate. With Megadeth, Helloween and Exodus (all good albums) it's their albums that followed these where they really hit their stride.

Too many amazing albums to choose from, I don't know if I'll be able to choose. LOL

Powerslave, Ride the Lightning, Spreading the Disease, Defenders of the Faith, Perfect Strangers, The Warning, The Last in Line, Rising Force, Walls of Jericho.

While there are a lot here I love equally, I decided to give my vote to Anthrax.

I enjoy quite a few other albums on the list too, but overall it´s not my favorite period when it comes to music. 1986 - around 1994/95 is probably my favorite period.

Probably any of Maiden, DP, MD, Metallica, Priest, Dio or Anthrax. Powerslave has enough votes so plumped for DP.

This is a tough one.

My top 5 would be Metallica, Helloween, Exodus, Metal Church and of course Mercyful Fate. Insanely difficult choice between them. But I guess, it will have to be Metallica.

Powerslave is my favorite Maiden album. Hell Awaits, Defenders of the Faith, Overkill, Anthrax and Megadeth are all very dear albums.

Albums that should have been on the list (no complaints, just an excuse to list awesome albums :P):

Hallow's Eve - Tales of Terror, Whiplash - Power and Pain, Agent Steel - Skeptics Apocalypse, SOD - Speak English or Die, Jag Panzer - Ample Destruction, Savatage - Power of the Night, Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry, Slauter XStroyes - Winter Kill, Armored Saint - Delirious Nomad (favorite Armored Saint album), Lizzy Borden - Love You to Pieces, Piledriver - Metal Inquisition,  and the two Manowar albums (why no Manowar?).

Crazy decade, masterpieces all over the place.

Can't fault you there, they have been a bad joke since 1996, progressively worse.

Still, the albums in question are absolute classics and should be mentioned in a 1984 thread.

Of course they deserve to be mentioned, but I can't put albums I don't listen to in the poll, can I?
I used to listen some of their 80s stuff, but not anymore.

Of course you can! Just because you haven't heard it, doesn't mean you can't include it.

Bigger omission here for me though than Manowar is Running Wild's debut. One of their best.

With that said, not many bands can compete with Iron Maiden at the top of their game and that's exactly what Powerslave is. Gets my vote.

This not what I was trying to say.
Well, if I don't listen to a certain album, it means I don't like it, so why should I include that in a poll?
Why would I include an album I haven't heard (it means I don't know it)?

I will check out the other albums people mention here, those I do not know (hey, I may learn something new) and those I haven't heard in a really long time (and I might have forgotten about LOL).

but how can I include something I have not heard? If I haven't heard it, it probably means I do not know it. LOL

what I was tying to say is that I am including only albums I listen to and like, that's all.

^You can include exactly what you want to include. It´s your poll, it´s your decision. If someone has other ideas, they can make their own poll, or suggest recommendations in their comments.

Ride the Lightning is my favorite Metallica album. It beats Powerslave because of that
