Once the site gets kind of settled I'd like to suggest a couple bands that started out hardcore and then went metal, but there is no hurry on this since, I think from what I've heard, the site is concentrating on getting the essential metal scene together first. Which is probably a good idea. Anyway, it would be more interesting to discuss this stuff when there are more people on here with a history and experience in the very early thrash scene. There is a real interesting process that happened then where the underground metal scene picked up hardcore thrash beats, and then several hardcore bands followed suit and became more metal. In the Northern California scene Metallica put it all together and the rest is history, at least from that corner of the globe. Things happened in a different way in Northern Europe, but that scene was also an influence on early California thrash/metal bands.

Rejected by Alt Metal team as being dominantly a hardcore punk band instead of alternative metal. The Exploited started as a punk band and went thrash in the nineties. So maybe we should consider adding them.
But generally, will we extend MMA to punk or hardcore/punk ? Crass inspired grindcore bands, Discharge, GBH and Misfits had a huge influence on the development of thrash metal... ------------- Dorosłe dzieci mają żal, za kiepski przepis na ten świat. |
