I didn't buy all that many 2014 albums (somewhere between 20-30) and I thought overall it was a disappointing year. 1. Within Temptation - Hydra 2. Teramaze - Esoteric Symbolism 3. Threshold - For The Journey 4. Eluveitie - Origins 5. Vanden Plas - Chronicles Of The Immortals, vol.1 heh, none of my top-5 even made UMUR's list. 2015 should be a much better year.

my top 5 for 2014 1. Nightingale - Retribution 2. Soen - Tellurian 3. Enchant - The Great Divide 4. Threshold - For the Journey 5. Helstar - This Wicked Nest honorable mentions (I'll just list the bands that released albums last year) - Distorted Harmony, Anubis Gate, Eldritch, Vanden Plas, Freak Kitchen, Mothership, Tankard, Steve Rothery. I'll be back if I forgot someone And as a non-metal, non-prog release, Simple Minds' last album simply entitled Big Music is currently a personal favorite.  |

Only if someone signs up to do the visual part of the presentation. Adam has offered that he would do the statistics (correct me if I´m wrong Adam), but he hasn´t got time to do the presentation, which means finding album cover artwork in a good quality, and finding a positive MMA review of each of the releases in the top albums chart.

I am pretty forgetful these days - I forgot about Opeth and their last one was quite good. And also The Watch - Tracks from the Alps was great although this band is just a Genesis pastiche. |
