I get your point. I feel the same way when I see someone bash Nightwish's Imaginaerum.

Stale might have been a poor choice of words, I admit that. I more or less wrote this on the spur of the moment and wasn't sure how to best pose that question. The point I was trying to make was that I haven't found any prog metal releases since 2014 (which had Anubis Gate and Distorted Harmony albums) that have really blown me away. I've still enjoyed most of the albums I've heard, I just don't seem to be hearing anything that reminds me of why I got into prog metal in the first place. Maybe 2015 was just a slump but so far 2016 seems to be going much the same way for me. I've heard both the new Redemption and Headspace albums and couldn't get really excited by either and the even the new Haken single did nothing for me. The new Myrath IMO is much more folk metal based than prog, so I wouldn't count that one. I need to listen to them all again though.
