Post Reply - Black Metal drop-in centre

There might have been a discussion on this here (thread tl;dr), but what are your opinions on the philosophy and aesthetics of black metal? That is, explain to someone who enjoys some black metal but is often deterred by the image of many black metal bands like Mayhem or even the more theatrical ones like Sabbat, what you see in its image and aesthetic. This isn't meant as any sort of argument against black metal, but I'm genuinely curious.
