That's right! Opeth will start the recording of their 10th album on the 31st of January 2010 [sic]. The band has picked the legendary Atlantis studios (ex Metronome studios) in Stockholm and will once again work with Jens Bogren engineering. Mixing duties will be handled by Steven Wilson (Porcupine tree). Possible release worldwide in the fall of 2010 [sic], through Roadrunner records. The new material has been described by the band as being "good".

10th album?  I hope they can still surprise me. It's tough with so many albums to compare.

That being said,

Was just about to post this lol

Excellent news. Though Watershed was pretty good, it was still one of my least favorites.
Much as I love Opeth I could see them running thin by now. But  I still have faith they can make great music!

Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Testament. The real Big Four of thrash metal!

I'm really excited about this as well. The first half of Watershed was some of their finest material ever, and I really loved the twisted feel with prominent keyboards. Interested to see where they're going next.
