I've closed the last poll as it doesn't seem right to exclude 75% of their full-lengths from the poll. The old topic is here: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=219&PN=1&title=dream-theaters-best

My ranking:

  1. Metropolis, Part 2: Scenes From a Memory
  2. A Dramatic Turn of Events
  3. Images and Words
  4. Black Clouds & Silver Linings
  5. Octavarium
  6. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
  7. Train of Thought
  8. Dream Theater
  9. Systematic Chaos
  10. Awake
  11. When Dream and Day Unite
  12. Falling Into Infinity
Yes I really did just put Awake that low. Angry

I don't know why but it's never really grabbed me the way other albums by them have. There are a few songs I love from it but most of it I don't find all that memorable. I know I am in the minority opinion on this...

To me it's their best. One of those albums that just allows itself to breathe as it is a fantastic piece of work in my opinion

I´ve heard all their releases, but it´s only the early releases that I still put on so it´s a bit of a tie between Images and Awake. Images gets my vote. I´m still in awe when listening to that album all these years later.

My three favorite albums by them are I & W, SFAM, and ADTOE.

Must be a change in personnel gives them a kick in the pants, or something Smile

This is really hard, because they're one of my top 5 favorite bands, at the very least.

1. Metropolis, Part 2: Scenes From a Memory
2. Awake
3. Dream Theater
4. A Dramatic Turn of Events
5. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
6. Black Clouds & Silver Linings
7. Images & Words
8. Octavarium
9. Train of Thought
10. When Dream and Day Unite
11. Systematic Chaos
12. Falling Into Infinity

(There's a huge gap between 12 and 11, followed by another big gap between 11 and 10. From 10 on, are all albums I'd rate at least 85/100.)

For me it's Train of Thought.  I really love music from most of their albums, but they also have always included songs that I rather dislike.  Train of Thought is the one that suffers the least from that.

The debut and Train of Thought are not so good in my opinion. Images and Words is ok too in my opinion. Awake is the only other one I have interest in Clap

I have heard alot of Dream Theater, but I find myself picking an album that isn't even that good: Octovarium. I dunno, I've always liked the album, especially the tracks 'Panic Attack' and 'Never Enough'.

I don't even like DT that much, but this album is pretty good imo. Smile

Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence for me, followed by Train of Thought and Systematic Chaos. I have odd taste LOL

There's none I don't like though, when I think about it.
