I'll tell you a story. About a year ago it became obvious that unloved as it was, the metalcore sub was a mess. Too few bands we listed here had seen their entries updated since day one, and compared to some of our peer sites, we were and are missing a huge number of acts.

Now we could either take the route of EM and claim to be selective about which mc bands we listed (only the ones that didn't really sound like metalcore) or could do something about it, update our listings (done) and add the missing artists. I volunteered to pull the short straw.

The problem is not that we have too many metalcore, deathcore and hardcore bands here or too many references to metalcore in the free download thread, but that we are too slow with the other subs. For that, you can either moan at the other collaborators on here or even volunteer yourself to help out.

The time will come (probably in a years time) when I've finished all the missing adds and it should be a maintenance exercise only. You can then complain that there's too many sludge or avant-garde bands getting added
