Don't think I've ever seen this poll before, so here goes

Can't decide between the two myself, will vote later.

There can only be one winner!

2 TOTALLY Different Bands Tongue

I vote for Variety is the spice of life . . .

Therefore I choose Opeth . . .

and Pain of Salvation, Peter Murphy, Peter Gabriel, Tori Amos, Chicago, Ayreon, Death, Yes, ELP,
Genesis, Dream Theater, The Quiet Room, Meshuggah, Necrophagist, Haken, Bjork, Kansas, Marty
Friedman, Allan Holdsworth, RUSH, April Wine, Heart, Boston, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow,
Dixie Dregs, Goldfrap, OSI, Psychotic Waltz, The Beatles and and and . . . Wink (the list then enters
infinity and we all implode).

Oh, and yes, there is only 1 winner

. . . me.

Opeth are more Godlike than PoS. Opeth are Zeus and PoS are, like, Hephaestus. At most.

Pain of Salvation by just a bit. I love Opeth dearly, but The Perfect Element, Be, Remedy Lane, and Scarsick (yes, Scarsick) are some of my all-time favorite albums.

I haven't found any POS that I've liked, but am willing to listen to any suggestions.  I'll choose Opeth.

Opeth = One of my all time favourites.
Pain of Salvation = One of the very few bands in our collection that I absolutely never listen to. Perhaps I'll get them some day.

I voted PoS: They have many, many, many more moments that affect me than Opeth. Besides, I find Opeth a bit dull sometimes.
Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

Pain of Salvation for me.  A funny thing to say on a metal site, but I don't get the appeal of growls.  Damnation is the only Opeth album that I can really listen to.

Growls are something that's definitely an acquired taste. I personally love them (when done well), but I can fully understand why some people don't like it. These are the types of people I like to call "wimps". Tongue Big smile

Finally gone for PoS! Opeth are so bloody brilliant, but PoS get me on a higher, more emotional level overall. Still two of my top ever bands.
