I've only really checked out the new Clutch, Hatebreed, Coheed, Riverside, KSE and BMTH albums, all of which I liked... and I've got the new Megadeth and two Queensryche albums preordered.
Otherwise, I don't really know much from this year. I might check out Children Of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Deep Purple, Gama Bomb and Gamma Ray albums, I'm not sure yet. |

Man . . .
I am WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy behind . But . . . I was sent a preview to this album via-my YOUtube account. Could someone have actually made an "Original" (Prog)Metal album? It could be said that this is a lot like the band "The Ocean", but there is something more atmospheric, symphonic and surprisingly heavy/experimental-out of left field about this one that will ease you to sleep, then ATTACK you awake! A beautiful album . Edited by MAVIIIVAM - 02 Jun 2013 at 2:00am |

This is the new Satan, featuring the entire Court in the Act lineup (top 10 NWOBHM album imo). ...aaaand it's fucking awesome heavy metal. seriously. Check out Twenty Twenty Five or my fave Incantations and hear for yourself. Definitely making my top list this year.

Yeah, it's pretty much Mastodon meets Opeth. Definitely check the whole thing. I saw them live too. They ruled.

How is that Anciients album? I heard a sample and it sounded really great. Like a more progressive version of latter day Mastodon?

In no particular order, these are the 2013 albums that Ive now listened to and reviewed:
1. Helloween - Straight Out of Hell 2. Andy Winter - Incomprehensible 3. Hatchet - Dawn of the End 4. Suffocation - Pinnacle of Bedlam 5. Void of Sleep - Tales Between Reality and Madness 6. Devourment - Conceived in Sewage 2013 is looking pretty good so far, but there are still long to go before the year is over. out of the above its the new Soilwork album that has impressed me the most. The Inter Arma album is great too and the new Voivod is quite the comeback to my ears...

I just got the new Serenity, gave it one listen.
It's a good album if you like Serenity / or Kamelot-like power metal, but I don't think it's as good as their albums 'Fallen Sanctuary' or 'Death & Legacy'. Maybe 3.5 stars at best. But that's on 1 listen... Edited by Jbird - 17 Apr 2013 at 6:49am |

both the new Amorphis & the new Sacred Mother Tongue get released on April 30th
I just ordered both of 'em. The new Amorphis sounds like there's alot more death metal growls, from the youtube lyric videos I've listened to. The new Sacred Mother Tongue............Andy James!!! |

^ I'm looking forward to hearing the new Summoning. The trailer sounds pretty epic.
The new Rotting Christ is a pretty awesome album. That being said my expectations were very high and a small part of me feels underwhelmed. It's definitely still one of the best I have had a chance to hear so far this year. I got the new Krypts in the mail today and holy shit is it crushing. I knew I would like it, but I wasn't so sure if it would wow me. I'm pretty blown away by it. I got a few other 2012 releases coming. I'll wait until they arrive until I touch up on those.
