I'm not surprised thrash metal doesn't have any..it seems to be the one metal subgenre universally embraced by all.LOL

Most often appreciate more thrash metal, but I also like the traditional heavy metal, power metal (more Helloween) and prog metal. Others remain in the background, diversifying bands and the occasional music.

Metalcore got my vote, I tried listening to a few albums (some Trivium, Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, Shadow fall) but got bored rather quick.

I also can't get into black metal, never did, to put it nicely but there are a couple of Agalloch albums I listen to sometimes (The Mantle, Ashes against the Grain) and Negura bunget (OM and what came after that). But those aren't pure black metal anyway. Now i can go hide... LOL

Also I admit I like Staind (is that considered alternative metal?) although I think their debut album is rather horrid. LOL

It's like most genres. Much of it can be generic and if you don't like it, then there's not much that can be done to change things. It can also throw up many surprises too, especially the more progressive or avant-garde stuff.

I don't hate metalcore or any genre to be honest, to me "disliking smth" and "hating smth" it's not the same thing.

Also, since you mentioned it, I just don't get Grindcore, at all.

I just hastily voted for Folk Metal because I hate it but Alternative Metal is definitely my least favorite.
I have checked out many things due to the top 100 lists on the Archives site and so much of it is horrendously bad.
Stone Sour is offensive.

Looking at the genre definitions on the site made me realize METALCORE is actually my least favorite genre.
Although nothing is as bad as Stone Sour. Except maybe Hatebreed.

Alternative metal probably only gets such a bad rep because of 'Nu-metal'. LOL

If you listen to actual alt metal, there is some really high quality stuff there (SoaD, Mudvayne, Ra, Chevelle, Crossfade). Tongue

EDIT: Also, not all Nu-metal is bad. I love Korn and Coal Chamber, and they're labeled as Nu-metal. Tongue
