LOLjust found this description of a Mayhem gig I attended in 2004. Thats exactly how I remember the show too. Fortunately I was about as wasted as ManiacBig smile:

Mayhem 2004-04-08

Copenhagen, Denmark - Loppen

This gig was a complete disaster! Leadsinger "Maniac" is constantly chugging Vodka
straight from the bottle and smoking joints bigger than cigars, and as a result he gets
completely wasted, eventually leaving the stage, so the band plays the last couple of
songs without him.. You can hear the guitarist say "Fuck him!" when he has left.

Maniac leaves during Freezing Moon, and the last two songs are sung by Blasphemer.

I might add he didnt "leave" the stage. The crawled off the stage and was helped backstage by some friendly roadies.

Before all this happened he had been crowdsurfing like a madman with knifes and mutilating himself onstage. I guess thats the rocknroll lifestyle taken to the extremeBig smile

I guess thats how your average GG Allin gig went though.

A little bump. Two Splits arrive in the mail this week; one from '05 the other from this year (which, coincidentally, is vying - alongside a bowl of Soba - as my best $6 spent this year)

Black Vomit / Rape Rack - Scumfuck / ambient shitstorm (black metal, with a little bit of noise 'n' electronic influences; kinda pretty, well ambient shitstorm anyway)

Up on bandcamp: http://frequencythirteen.bandcamp.com/album/ftr002-scumfuck-ambient-shitstorm

And, another Tape release from the Black Twilight Circle: tukaaria / odz manouk - split

LOL

They played at a local venue recently, but I missed them. (combination of lack of funds, inability to drive, and inability of my dad to drive me there because he hates black metal) Looks like I may not have missed much!

Still, I would've liked to see Woe, which was one of the opening acts.

Yeah that show was an utter disaster. I saw them a couple of years earlier at a sligthly bigger venue where they had meat parts and heads from pigs hanging from hooks in the ceiling. It was a better show, but Im not really a Mayhem fan, so I got kinda bored after a couple of tracks and spend most of the concert at the bar.

Here's another good 2011 black metal album:

Nightbringer - Hieophany of the Open Grave

Not all of the songs are as great as this one, but it's a pretty solid album. I've also written a review of it here: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/hierophany-of-the-open-grave--review.aspx?id=255755

fuck, its been a long time since I've heard Striborg. He used to be pretty popular (relatively speaking) over here 'round '04, '05, '06, kinda gained a 'little' bit o' cult status; well JB-HiFi (our big chain music store) used to stock one or two of his disc at a time, so he must have sparked something, but, as it were, it was more the 'mystic' behind this deranged music(/man) from Tasmania that sold rather than his CD's.

Checked this out today:

De Expugnatione Elfmuth by Nazgul.  Pretty awesome symphonic black metal with lyrics in Latin.

So the frontman from Lunar Aurora has a side project called Trist (not to be confused with the Czech band of the same name).  Huge Darkspace vibes.

Thought I'd write a review for an album I actually have on CD next.  So I chose Borknagar's self titled.

It's in the works.

It's taking longer than usual.  School work got in the way.  Maybe by the weekend.
