Uriah Heep, tough poll indeed, I also like most of those bands and Thin Lizzy would have got my vote as well.

Blackfoot and Lynyrd Skynyrd are southern rock. Blackfoot' 'strikes' is essential.

I vote for Uriah heep, their first five albums are mandatory. However, they are more prog rock than pure hard rock.

Thin Lizzy.  I like their dual guitar attack, and Lynnot had a unique voice.  Probably the only Irish band in my music collection.
