Having only heard pre-Jail Burzum before, this was a rather surprising release. I certainly didn't expect clean singing from Varg.
NP:

as bonus tracks.

I like Brutality, although they are pretty standard fare 90s US death metal in the technically well played end of the spectrum. I saw them live once, supporting Bolt Thrower on the ...for Victory tour (with Martin van Drunen on vocals). |
Must have been a great show. I like this album a lot myself. It is old school death metal but the compositions are constructed quite well and there is enough variety to keep the whole thing interesting. Need to check out more Bolt Thrower. Have three albums only of them

Well after the 4th Crusade, they didnĀ“t really change their sound much, but all their albums are still great IMO.

I am listening to a metalcore album and for the most part I'm actually digging this one.
Except for the clean vocals. Those are annoying as hell most of the time.

OKay, I think I need to slow down with this thing so I can actually get other promos done first, considering I have it well over 2 months in advance, but damn is it good! Three listens in and I already thoroughly love every song.
Just saw the reveal for the first single on Friday. Not the song I would have expected, though an awesome one, anyway. Not like this album has anything as radio friendly as most of their previous singles, anyway.

Just giving this a quick listen out of curiosity: I'm likely not reviewing it, since I have so much other stuff I'm working on right now.
First impression, seven songs in: Do you want a return to the classic Running Wild sound of the 80's and 90's? Well, this isn't it. Despite its name, this is a mostly slow to mid paced foray. It does seem about on par with Resilient, though, so I'm not saying it's bad or anything. I will certainly give it more listens when it comes out, but so far it looks like another 3-3.5 star album.

I knew it was probably too much to hope for.

I expect I'll listen to the new Running Wild when it drops but I don't have high hopes or anything. I didn't think much of the last one either.
