So contrary to earlier stated plans, turns out that Volcano is the only Satyricon album missing from Spotify.

Again...if you get the chance I can highly recommend their 2013 self-titled.

Perhaps I'll go to that next. I'm on the last track of the Limbonic Art album.
The reason I found Nemesis Divina so underwhelming is, I think, because it seemed so much more straight and and typical sounding black metal/melodic black metal compared to Dark Medieval Times, which has quite a few influences in it that remind me of Satyr's Wongraven album, which I've had for years and have always liked, so Nemesis Divina's more straight up black sound didn't seem half as interesting to me.

But it´s pretty clear they´ve evolved a lot over the years right? I even hesitate to call the music on this album Black metal.

I'll let you know. I got sidetracked by a Halifax burger, so I am still listening to the original right now though ;-)

UPDATE: Actually, I suddenly realized that I had No Place for Disgrace on cassette tape when I was a kid. I instantly recognized their cover version of Elton John's 'Saturday Night's Alright'.

Decided to skip ahead in their discography to their highest rated (on RYM anyway). Not disappointed.

Underrated album, I know it's more straight-forward rock, but I love 'This is Not Love' and 'Occasional Demons'

^ I have to admit i'd given a lot of the later JT albums a miss and although Catfish Rising won't topple the classics, it's not as bad as it's made out to be for sure :P

vs. The 2014 version is a crisper and more updated sound, and they have added little details every now and then. While crisp, the production is also considerably thin, and it lacks the crunchy bottom that characterizes the rawer production of the original. In particular the clicky sound of the bass drums on the 2014 version can be a tad annoying. It's an interesting take on the songs, to be sure, and it won't hurt completionist fans of Flotsam and Jetsam to go ahead and buy it. I prefer the original. The production is rougher and features some very 80s characteristics. However, as mentioned, the production is rich in bass tone, and this gives the guitars a very brutal crunch (for its time and for the genre, which is basically a hybrid of speed and thrash metal). I also prefer the vocals on the original which feature more screams and which are generally more 80s (which shouldn't be a surprise). Lastly, as regards the cover version of Elton John's 'Saturday Night's Alright (for Fighting)', the rerecorded version is quite weak compared to the original cover version. What made the original cover version so enjoyable was that it was performed using the brutal crunch sound that I mentioned and that just gave the song, while retaining the melodies and structure the Elton John composed, an entirely different personality. So, for my money, while the rerecorded version of the album is interesting (I'd probably give it 3 stars), the original is far better (probably 4.5 stars). Anyway, I guess I should write some proper reviews at some point, but I just wanted to post a wee evaluation here, since I promised UMUR that I would do so. Now, I'm listening to this one by the way:
