Listening again, really should get that Refuge Denied/Into the Mirror Black duel disc CD that's at one of my local music stores.

You should definitely do that. None of those albums are easy to find.

They are very easy and cheap to find in the UK, actually. I got Into the Mirror Black for £2.79 and Refuge Denied for £4.30.

Probably my favorite Decapitated album. I like how varied it is for a death metal release. Changing lead vocalist was also a good choice to my ears.

My favourite Decapitated album too.
Be excellent to each other.

Oh well...Things might have changed over the years. I had to import my copy of Into the Mirror Black back in the day, and it took 2 months before the store got it (this was back before the internet days Embarrassed). I didn´t know they had been reissued though, and still thought they were hard to find. Obviously not...

You hear some psychadelic influences here too (I know people will call me mad for this)? Granted they are kind of sci-fi psychadelia, but still there.

Hmm sort of, the main thing I hear is a major Meshuggah influence.

Yeah they definitely incorporated more Meshuggah type riffs and rhythms on this one compared to their earlier more "regular" death metal albums. But not in a ripp-off fashion. I think they are pretty successful at blending their influences and creating a distinct sound. Which is in large part due to Voggs riffs. One of the most creative and Sharp death metal guitarists on the scene and among my personal favorite guitarists. Little brother´s drumming is also nice and organic for such a technical death metal album. I like that...

^It´s been a very long time since I listened to those two. I´ll revisit at some point and write a couple of reviews. I don´t remember them too fondly, but my opinion might have changed over the years.

I really enjoy some of the Bush-era albums, Stomp 442 and We've Come for You All especially, but nothing beats the Belladonna albums for me.

I expect the popularity of Nevermore helped to get Sanctuary 'out there' again, plus their own recent resurrection of course. Though I did but my Into the Mirror Black second hand off ebay, and it looks like an older pressing. Refuge Denied was new, however.

Today's listening so far has been:

Just...Shocked jaw dropping crazy technical death metal. I really enjoy this one.

Still listening to this one and still being blown away. Damn this is nice and aggressive. Sounds a bit like The Black Dahlia Murder on technical steroids but with Holdsworthian guitar solos.

In a Rush mood. I love how even if you've had an album for years, you still catch things that you didn't before. I never realized how catchy the bass was during the solo for 'The Necromancer'.

Have been revisiting Thought Industry recently. Still find the first two albums amongst my all time favorite albums and have picked up the later ones that while not ranking as high still turn out to be decent alternative rockers

Yeah, the first two are masterpieces. I enjoy some of the later ones, but the problem for me with those is the amount of filler.
